Butterflies’ Garden Party
In 2018 TINY GALLERY initiated a collaboration between the parent-artist Mia Nolting and the preschool students of Ray’s Butterfly classroom at Helen Gordon. The class travelled to TINY GALLERY for field trips to paint flowers with Mia, and constructed a butterfly mural out of fabric. During Converge 45 the students’ watercolors were exhibited alongside Mia’s work in a gallery booth curated by Ray (co-founder of TINY GALLERY) at KSMoCA International Art Fair.

Oftentimes young people’s interests and intuitions with materials get overpowered by adult’s trainings on - and languages about - “art”.
TINY GALLERY emphasized the process of creating, sharing feelings, and collaborating with friends.
For this project, the Butterflies created a mural out of found fabrics, cutting and ironing and gluing together. Learning how to hang and exhibit an artwork was part of the process of creating it.

Art is Interactive
TINY GALLERY created a passport and custom stamp so that young visitors to Converge 45 could have a way to engage other booths at the KSMoCA International Art Fair.
